The Northborough Arts Council (NAC) is the new non-profit funding arm of the Northborough Cultural Council (NCC), dedicated to developing and funding public art projects in Northborough to reflect our sense of place, town history and culture. Their goal is to complement existing town initiatives, such as the master implementation plan, and to support area artists. As a nonprofit organization, they are dedicated to providing financial assistance to the Cultural Council and to encourage the growth of cultural and artistic expression. The NAC was incorporated by past and present members of the NCC, who bring their love for the arts to reality for our community. If you’ve enjoyed the CultureFest of Music & Arts, the Go Outdoors painted doors exhibit at Ellsworth-McAfee park, the Apple Blossom mural on the Town Common, and look forward to this year’s NCC events of Open Studios, Flowerful Chairs or Porchfest, then you can support them through your generous donations via the upcoming Northborough Arts Council’s fundraising event. They have established an online art auction of artwork from mostly local artists. Make a bid on original artwork at www.32auctions.com/NboroArtsCouncil between now and April 27. Assabet Valley Mastersingers (AVM) is thrilled to announce the final concert of their beautiful 46th season, featuring Johannes Brahms’ masterpiece, “A German Requiem.” This unforgettable performance is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 11th at 7:30pm at Algonquin Regional High School. With a commitment to musical excellence, AVM is poised to deliver a performance of Brahms’ “A German Requiem” that will leave audiences awe-inspired. This monumental work (composed by Brahms between 1865 and 1868) is, without doubt, one of the best loved and most popular of all choral works, perhaps challenged only by the familiarity of Handel’s Messiah. AVM will perform a contemporary edition and English translation by Lara Hoggard. Under the faithful artistic direction of Dr. Robert Eaton, AVM has been meticulously preparing for this performance, interpreting Brahms’ rich tapestry of melodies and harmonies with the utmost sensitivity. Joined by talented Boston-based soloists Kristen Watson (soprano) and Andrew Padgett (baritone), the Assabet Valley Mastersingers will transport audiences on a journey through the depths of human experience, exploring themes of love, loss, and redemption. Tickets for the Assabet Valley Mastersingers’ performance of “A German Requiem” are available for purchase online at www.avmsingers.org or at the door on the day of the […]
