Meet Northboro Chiropractic’s September Patient of the Month

Hello, I am Barbara Frederick and I am 80 years young!

Three years ago, I was experiencing severe back pain that was affecting my whole well-being. I couldn’t walk or enjoy any of the day to day activities I was used to doing. I went to the doctor to find out what was going on and was given a cortisone injection to help with the pain. Well, that worked for a day or two and then the pain was back! Suddenly, I was seeing a spine specialist and spine surgery was being scheduled, even though the doctor was not certain that surgery would make me feel better.

I happened to be having dinner with a dear friend and she suggested that I try Northboro Chiropractic Center. I figured that it couldn’t hurt, so I scheduled an appointment. I started having adjustments done four days a week and was feeling better each and every day. After one month, I was beginning to walk without my cane; I even did a dance twirling my cane in my daughter’s kitchen! But soon after I was feeling better, old age kicked in and I began to experience hip pain. I had total hip replacement surgery and then started the process of walking again with my new hip. I went back to NCC for adjustments as soon as I was able to leave the house and my recovery was on the easier side; I totally give credit to my chiropractic care for that.

I then travelled back to my winter home in Florida and was without chiropractic care for several months. Upon my arrival last summer, I was feeling pain again. This time, I needed my knee replaced. Again, the healing process was much easier with my chiropractic care. Soon after the knee replacement surgery, the other hip needed replaced. I resumed my chiropractic care and was walking well enough to travel back home to Florida.

After a month away from my chiropractic care, I started to feel pain in my upper thigh as well as my back. Walking without my cane was not an option anymore. I returned earlier this spring and went back to my chiropractic care. Dr. Karen saw me twice a week for a month and in that time, the pain started to subside and I was walking without the cane again.

My quality of life has definitely improved since I found NCC and although I am not as fast on my feet as I would like to be, I can only imagine where I would be if I had chosen spine surgery instead of chiropractic care!
